Natural Habitat

Behavior Patterns
Alates are winged reproductive members of a colony that swarm in large numbers, often after heavy rain, to find mates and establish new colonies. They quickly shed their wings after landing.
Risks & Benefits
They pose no direct physical risk to humans but present a significant risk of structural damage to homes and wood buildings. In nature, they are beneficial as decomposers, recycling dead wood into the soil.
