Fungus Gnat

Damp environments high in organic matter, such as potted plant soil, greenhouses, and moist interiors.

Larvae primarily feed on fungi, algae, and decaying plant matter in the soil; adults typically do not feed or only consume liquids.

Adults are weak fliers often seen 'dancing' or running across surfaces. They are highly attracted to light and moisture. Life cycle from egg to adult is about 3-4 weeks.

Generally harmless to humans but can be a nuisance. In large numbers, larvae may damage plant roots and transmit fungal diseases to indoor plants.
