Behavior Patterns

Adult females burrow into the skin to lay eggs. The life cycle involves egg, larva, nymph, and adult stages, occurring entirely on the human host. They are highly contagious and spread through direct skin-to-skin contact.

Risks & Benefits

Causes Scabies, a skin infestation characterized by intense itching and a pimple-like rash. Secondary bacterial infections can occur from scratching. There are no ecological benefits to this parasite.
