Daddy Long Legs (Cellar Spider)

Found worldwide, commonly in dark, damp areas such as cellars, basements, crawl spaces, and corners of rooms in houses.

Carnivorous. They feed primarily on other spiders, insects, and sometimes woodlice, catching prey in irregular webs or actively hunting them.

They build messy, irregular webs in corners. When disturbed, they vibrate rapidly in their webs to blur their image and deter predators.

Generally considered beneficial as they help control populations of other household pests, including mosquitoes, flies, and venomous spiders like black widows. They are harmless to humans and their venom poses no significant medical threat.
