Natural Habitat
Commonly found in pantries, kitchens, and food processing facilities, especially in stored cereals and grains.
Diet & Feeding
They feed on a variety of dried foods including flour, cereals, pasta, bread, dried fruits, nuts, seeds, and chocolate.
Behavior Patterns
They are flattened insects that can crawl into tiny cracks of food packaging. They do not fly frequently. Female beetles can lay up to 280 eggs over several months.
Risks & Benefits
They do not bite or sting and do not spread disease. The primary risk is contamination and spoilage of stored dry goods in homes and commercial settings.
