Bed Bug (Egg)

Natural Habitat

Often found in crevices of mattresses, box springs, bed frames, and upholstered furniture in human dwellings.

Diet & Feeding

Eggs do not eat; however, hatched nymphs and adults are hematophagous, meaning they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.

Behavior Patterns

Eggs are typically laid in secluded clusters and glued to surfaces with a sticky substance. They hatch in about 6 to 10 days depending on temperature. The resulting insects are nocturnal and hide during the day.

Risks & Benefits

They are a significant indoor pest. While not known to transmit diseases, their bites cause itching, allergic reactions, and psychological distress. They have no known benefits to the human ecosystem.
