Nightly activity cycles where they emerge from hiding to feed on sleeping hosts; they undergo hemimetabolous metamorphosis from egg to nymph to adult.

Causes itchy welts, psychological distress, and sleep deprivation; they do not transmit known diseases but infestations are difficult and costly to eradicate.
