Natural Habitat

Found globally in human dwellings, typically hidden in mattresses, bed frames, cracks, and crevices near sleeping areas.

Diet & Feeding

Obligate hematophages, meaning they feed exclusively on animal blood, primarily from humans.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal and elusive; they emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult). When crushed after feeding, they leave a distinct reddish-brown blood stain as seen in the image.

Risks & Benefits

Risks include itchy skin rashes, psychological distress, and allergic reactions. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no known benefits to the ecosystem in a domestic setting.
