Size: 4 to 5 mm (adults), roughly the size of an apple seed.

Natural Habitat
Found globally in human dwellings, typically hidden in mattress seams, bed frames, cracks, and crevices near sleeping areas.
Diet & Feeding
Hematophagous; they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily preferring humans.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive; they emerge from hiding at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and can survive months without a meal.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy skin welts, allergic reactions, and psychological distress/insomnia. While they do not efficiently transmit diseases, infestations are difficult and costly to eradicate.
