Varied Carpet Beetle (Larva)

Commonly found indoors in homes, warehouses, and museums where natural fibers or dried organic materials are present.

Scavengers that feed on animal-based products including wool, silk, fur, feathers, leather, and dried food items like pet food or spices.

The larvae (often called "woolly bears") avoid light and are most active in dark, undisturbed areas. They undergo a complete metamorphosis from egg to adult over 1 to 3 years depending on conditions.

They are significant structural pests that can destroy clothing, carpets, and upholstery. Their larval hairs can also cause dermatitis or allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
