Behavior Patterns
Three-host life cycle (larva, nymph, adult). They search for hosts through a behavior called 'questing,' waiting on the tips of low vegetation with front legs outstretched.
Risks & Benefits
Known vector for diseases such as Ehrlichiosis and Tularemia. A bite can also cause Alpha-gal syndrome (a red meat allergy). Ecosystem benefit includes serving as a food source for birds and spiders.
