Natural Habitat

Commonly found inside homes on walls, under furniture, or in closets, as well as on walls in warm, humid climates.

Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on spider webs, lint, wool, human hair, and silk fibers.

Behavior Patterns

The larva constructs a protective silk case covered in sand or dust and can extend its head from either end. It drags the case while moving and eventually attaches it to a surface to pupate.

Risks & Benefits

They are considered a minor household pest because they can damage silks and wool fabrics. They are harmless to humans and do not bite or sting.
