Bird Lice

Typically found on the bodies of wild or domestic birds, or occasionally near nesting sites in buildings.

Feed on feathers, skin scales, and sometimes blood or sebum from the host bird.

These are wingless, flattened insects that spend their entire life cycle on a host; they are transferred from bird to bird through direct contact.

They can cause irritation and feather damage to birds; while they may crawl on humans, they cannot survive or reproduce on humans and do not pose a serious health risk.
