Obligate hematophages, primarily feeding on human blood, usually at night.

Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and are attracted to the carbon dioxide and warmth produced by sleeping hosts.

They are nuisance pests that cause itchy, red welts through their bites. While they do not typically transmit diseases, infestations can cause significant psychological distress and allergic reactions.
