Springtails

Damp environments, soil, leaf litter, rotting wood, and sometimes found near moisture on exterior walls or bathrooms.

Fungi, algae, decomposing organic matter, and bacteria.

They are wingless and known for their ability to jump using a specialized forked appendage called a furcula located on the abdomen.

Risks: Harmless to humans, pets, and structures, though large numbers can sometimes be a nuisance. Benefits: They aid in soil aeration and decomposition of organic material.
