Size: 4 to 5 millimeters (about the size of an apple seed) when fully grown.

Natural Habitat
Primarily indoor human dwelling environments, hiding in cracks, crevices, mattress seams, and upholstered furniture.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate blood-feeders that primarily consume human blood, but may feed on other warm-blooded animals.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal insects that hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis with five nymphal stages requiring blood meals to molt.
Risks & Benefits
Significant pests that cause itchy welts, allergic reactions, and psychological distress. While not known to transmit diseases to humans, they are difficult to eradicate once an infestation is established.
