Found globally in pantries, kitchens, food processing plants, and grain storage facilities; they often enter homes through infested grocery products.
Diet & Feeding
Scavengers that feed on processed grain products such as flour, cereal, pasta, dried fruits, nuts, seeds, yeast, and chocolate.
Behavior Patterns
Adults can live for up to three years; they are highly active, do not fly, and use their flattened bodies to squeeze into thin crevices of food packaging to lay eggs.
Risks & Benefits
They are major household and commercial pests that cause significant food waste through contamination; however, they do not bite, sting, or spread human diseases.
