Natural Habitat
Human dwellings, specifically cracks and crevices near sleeping areas such as mattresses, box springs, and headboards.
Diet & Feeding
Hematophagous (obligate blood-feeders), primarily targeting humans but also feeding on other warm-blooded animals.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) requiring a blood meal to molt.
Risks & Benefits
No known disease transmission; however, they cause itchy bites, allergic reactions, and significant psychological distress and sleep deprivation.
