Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding
Omnivorous and opportunistic; they feed on sweets (syrup, jelly), proteins (meats, grease, dead insects), and fats.
Behavior Patterns
Known for 'budding,' where a portion of the colony moves to a new location to start a satellite nest. They are primarily nocturnal and create expansive foraging trails.

Considered a major indoor pest. They can transmit pathogens like Salmonella and Streptococcus, making them a significant health risk in hospitals and food service areas. Benefits are minimal besides basic decomposition in the wild.
