Behavior Patterns
Larvae prefer dark, undisturbed areas and undergo multiple molts, leaving behind translucent, bristly cast skins (exuviae). Adults are attracted to light.
Risks & Benefits
While they do not bite humans, the larval hairs can cause allergic reactions or skin irritation (dermatitis). They are major household pests that can damage clothing, rugs, and blankets.
