Bed Bug
Scientific Name: Cimex lectularius
Order & Family: Hemiptera, Cimicidae
Size: Adults are typically 4-5 mm (0.16-0.2 inches) long, nymphs are smaller.

Natural Habitat
Primarily human dwellings, especially beds and bedding, but also furniture, cracks in walls, and other harborage areas. Can be found in homes, hotels, dorms, and public transportation.
Diet & Feeding
Exclusively blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.
Behavior Patterns
Nymphs and adults feed on blood. They are nocturnal and hide in cracks and crevices during the day, emerging at night to feed. They are attracted to warmth and carbon dioxide. Females lay eggs in secluded places.
Risks & Benefits
Potential risks include itchy red welts from bites, allergic reactions, and secondary skin infections from scratching. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no known benefits to humans or the ecosystem.
