Indoor environments, specifically within crevices of mattresses, bed frames, furniture, and luggage near human sleeping areas.

Obligate hematophagous, feeding exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.

Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult).

They are major household pests that cause itchy welts, allergic reactions, and psychological distress. While they do not reliably transmit diseases, infestations are difficult and costly to eradicate.
