Natural Habitat
Indoor environments, primarily residing in cracks and crevices near sleeping areas, such as mattress seams, bed frames, and baseboards.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages; they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal with a life cycle consisting of an egg, five nymphal stages (each requiring a blood meal to molt), and the adult stage. They use heat and CO2 to locate hosts.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy welts, allergic reactions, secondary skin infections from scratching, and significant psychological distress/insomnia. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans.
