Behavior Patterns
Larvae are slow-moving and avoid light. They undergo several molts, leaving behind translucent brownish skins. The adult beetles are active during the day and fly toward light.
Risks & Benefits
Larvae are destructive pests that can damage household textiles and clothing. Their defensive hairs can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions (carpet beetle dermatitis) in sensitive individuals.
