Masked Hunter (Nymph stages)
Scientific Name: Reduvius personatus
Order & Family: Hemiptera: Reduviidae
Size: 15 mm to 22 mm (for adults); nymphs are smaller but appear larger when covered in debris.

Natural Habitat
Found indoors in neglected corners, attics, and basements where dust and other small insects accumulate; also found in gardens and barns.
Diet & Feeding
Strictly carnivorous; preys on small arthropods including bed bugs, booklice, flies, and carpet beetles.
Behavior Patterns
Nymphs practice active camouflage by secreting a sticky substance and covering themselves with dust, sand, or lint (forming a 'mask'). They are nocturnal hunters that move slowly unless attacking prey.
Risks & Benefits
Benefits humans by preying on household pests like bed bugs. They are not disease carriers, but if handled or threatened, they can deliver a very painful bite that may cause localized swelling.
