Silverfish

Moist, humid areas such as bathrooms, basements, and attics; often found in dark, secluded spots.

Scavengers that consume carbohydrates and starches, including glue in book bindings, paper, photos, sugar, hair, dandruff, and some synthetic fabrics.

Nocturnal and highly secretive. They move with a quick, fish-like swimming motion and go through a three-stage life cycle (egg, nymph, adult) that can last several years.

Generally harmless to humans and do not spread disease, but can be significant household pests by damaging books, wallpapers, and clothing. They serve as a food source for spiders and centipedes.
