Natural Habitat

Commonly found in human dwellings, especially in mattresses, upholstered furniture, carpets, and bedding, thriving in warm and humid environments.

Diet & Feeding

Feeds primarily on dead skin cells shed by humans and pets, as well as other organic detritus.

Behavior Patterns

Dust mites are microscopic and invisible to the naked eye. They do not bite or sting. They reproduce rapidly in favorable conditions. Their fecal matter and decaying body parts are the primary triggers for allergic reactions.

Risks & Benefits

Potential Risk: Major allergen for humans, triggering asthma, eczema, and allergic rhinitis. No direct benefits to humans, though they play a role in decomposition of organic matter in indoor environments.
