Nocturnal, fast-moving, and avoid light; they are primitive wingless insects that undergo ametabolous metamorphosis (no major changes from nymph to adult)

While they do not transmit diseases to humans, they are considered pests due to their ability to damage household goods like books, wallpaper, and clothing. They also serve as a food source for other predatory insects.
