Human Bed Bug

Size: 4 to 5 mm (adults), roughly the size of an apple seed.

Natural Habitat
Human dwellings, primarily in mattresses, bed frames, cracks, and crevices near sleeping areas.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages (blood-feeders), primarily feeding on human blood, though they may feed on other warm-blooded animals if humans are unavailable.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymphal stages, adult) and require a blood meal to molt into the next stage.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy skin rashes, psychological distress, and potential allergic reactions to bites. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no ecological benefits in a domestic human environment; they are considered household pests.
