Natural Habitat
Found in human dwellings, typically in cracks and crevices near sleeping areas including mattresses, box springs, and bed frames.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages; they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive; they are most active at night and hide durante the day. They go through five nymphal stages before reaching adulthood, requiring a blood meal between each molt.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy skin welts, allergic reactions, psychological distress, and secondary skin infections from scratching. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no ecological benefits in human environments.
