Clover Mite

Natural Habitat

Typically found near windows, on siding, or clustering on sun-warmed walls, pavement, and concrete. They thrive in well-fertilized lawns and grasslands.

Diet & Feeding

Strictly phytophagous (plant-eating), feeding on plant juices from clover, grasses, and various other garden plants.

Behavior Patterns

They are most active in spring and autumn when temperatures are moderate. They tend to invade homes in large numbers but only seeking shelter, not food. They reproduce parthenogenetically (without males).

Risks & Benefits

Harmless to humans and pets (they do not bite or spread disease). The main nuisance is their reddish pigment, which can leave persistent orange or red stains on fabrics, carpets, or walls if crushed.
