Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive; they undergo hemimetabolous (incomplete) metamorphosis, progressing through five nymphal stages that each require a blood meal to molt.
Risks & Benefits
They do not transmit disease, but their bites can cause allergic reactions, skin rashes, psychological distress, and sleep deprivation. There are no ecological benefits in human domestic environments.
