Natural Habitat

Found globally in close proximity to human sleeping areas, residing in cracks and crevices of bed frames, mattresses, and walls.

Diet & Feeding

Obligate hematophages, meaning they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal and elusive; they emerge at night to feed and hide during the day. They go through five nymphal stages, requiring a blood meal to molt into each successive stage.

Risks & Benefits

While not known to transmit diseases, they cause significant psychological distress, insomnia, and itchy allergic reactions or skin rashes from bites. They offer no ecosystem benefits in human environments.
