Natural Habitat

Indoor environments, primarily in cracks and crevices near sleeping areas (mattresses, bed frames, furniture, and baseboards).

Diet & Feeding

Obligate hematophagous (feeds exclusively on blood), primarily from humans, but will feed on other warm-blooded animals if necessary.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and emerge at night for blood meals. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and can survive for months without feeding.

Risks & Benefits

Risks include itchy skin welts, allergic reactions, psychological distress, and secondary infections from scratching. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. Benefits are none.
