Natural Habitat
Human dwellings, specifically sleeping areas such as mattresses, bed frames, and floorboards.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages (blood feeders) preferring human blood.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal, hiding in cracks during the day and emerging at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult).
Risks & Benefits
Highly parasitic and a major pest; causes itchy bites and allergic reactions in humans, though not known to transmit diseases. No ecosystem benefits in human habitats.
