Masked Hunter Nymph (Dust Bug)
Scientific Name: Reduvius personatus
Order & Family: Hemiptera: Reduviidae
Size: Nymphs vary based on instar stage but typically range from 4 to 12 mm; adults are approximately 17-22 mm.

Natural Habitat
Often found indoors in dusty corners, attics, and basements; outdoors in woodpiles and crevices.
Diet & Feeding
Carnivorous predator; feeds on bed bugs, silverfish, carpet beetles, flies, and other small arthropods.
Behavior Patterns
Nymphs intentionally cover their sticky bodies with dust, lint, sand, and debris as camouflage (the 'mask') to ambush prey and avoid detection. This behavior ceases once they molt into winged adults.
Risks & Benefits
Generally beneficial as they eat household pests like bed bugs (hence the name 'masked bed bug hunter'). However, they can inflict pain similar to a bee sting if handled or threatened.
