Natural Habitat
Indoor environments, primarily in cracks and crevices of mattresses, bed frames, furniture, and walls near sleeping areas
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages; they feed exclusively on the blood of mammals and birds, primarily humans
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal, hiding during the day and emerging at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and require a blood meal for each life stage transition
Risks & Benefits
Risks include physical reactions like itchy welts, insomnia, and anxiety. While not known to transmit diseases to humans, they are a significant nuisance and can be difficult and expensive to eradicate
