Behavior Patterns

Many species exhibit 'debris-carrying' behavior where they camouflage themselves with the carcasses of their prey and plant material. They are active hunters known as 'aphid lions' during this larval stage.

Risks & Benefits

Highly beneficial to the ecosystem as natural pest control for gardens. While they may occasionally give a sharp, harmless 'nip' to humans if handled, they pose no medical risk.
