Carnivorous; primarily eats aphids, mealybugs, scales, and mites

Often camouflages itself by carrying debris, such as dead prey remains and lichen, on its back to hide from predators

Highly beneficial to the ecosystem as a biological pest control; occasionally may give a harmless, minor nip to human skin if handled
