Springtail

Damp environments such as soil, leaf litter, decaying wood, and humid indoor areas like bathrooms or kitchens.

Detritivorous; they feed on decaying plant matter, fungi, mold, bacteria, and algae.

Known for their ability to jump long distances relative to their size using a tail-like appendage called a furcula. They thrive in high-moisture conditions and can gather in large numbers.

Generally harmless to humans and pets as they do not bite or sting. They are beneficial to the ecosystem by breaking down organic matter and cycling nutrients into the soil.
