Webbing Clothes Moth Larva Case

Natural Habitat

Found indoors in dark, undisturbed areas such as closets, drawers, attics, and underneath furniture where natural fibers (wool, silk, fur) are stored.

Diet & Feeding

The larvae feed on keratin-rich materials, including wool, fur, silk, leather, feathers, and occasionally pet hair or lint.

Behavior Patterns

The larvae spin a silken tube or 'case' that they carry with them as protection while they feed. This case collects debris and fibers from the material they are eating, often taking on the color of that fabric. They are photophobic (avoid light).

Risks & Benefits

They pose no direct health risk to humans (they do not bite or spread disease) but are a significant pest due to the destruction of clothing, carpets, tapestries, and upholstered furniture.
