Humid soil, leaf litter, mulch, and greenhouses; typically lives underground.

Herbivorous; feeds on plants, roots, and decaying organic matter.

Nocturnal burrowers that are often transported via potted plants. This species is parthenogenic (females reproduce without males).

A nuisance pest in gardens and greenhouses that can damage plants; they are not typically indoor-infesting household pests and do not bite humans.
