Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding
Keratin-containing animal fibers such as wool, fur, silk, feathers, and felt.
Behavior Patterns
Larvae construct a portable silken case incorporating bits of their food source for camouflage. They live inside this case, dragging it with them as they feed, and eventually pupate within it.
Risks & Benefits
Significant household pest that causes damage to clothing, upholstery, and carpets. They do not pose health risks to humans but can be economically damaging to textiles.
