Casebearing Clothes Moth (Larva in case)

Indoors within dark, undisturbed areas such as closets, carpets, upholstered furniture, and storage boxes.

Larvae feed on natural animal fibers including wool, feathers, fur, hair, lint, silk, and leather.

The larva builds a portable open-ended tubular case out of silk and debris (fibers, soil, waste) which it carries around as it moves and feeds, eventually pupating inside it.

Risks: Destructive household pest that damages clothing, carpets, rugs, tapestries, and taxidermy. Benefits: Helps decompose natural animal materials in the wild.
