Natural Habitat
Primarily indoor environments, specifically in human dwellings, cracks and crevices near sleeping areas, mattresses, and furniture.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages (blood-feeders), primarily feeding on human blood during the night.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal parasites that hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and require a blood meal to molt.
Risks & Benefits
Significant public health pests; while not known to transmit diseases, their bites cause itching, allergic reactions, and psychological distress. They are difficult and expensive to eradicate.
