Natural Habitat

Typically found on the stems, leaves, and roots of indoor and outdoor plants, greenhouse crops, and in warm climates.

Diet & Feeding

Herbivorous; they use piercing-sucking mouthparts to feed on plant juices (sap), often leading to plant yellowing or stunted growth.

Behavior Patterns

They are slow-moving and often secrete a white, waxy, cotton-like substance for protection. They also excrete honeydew, which can lead to the growth of sooty mold and attract ants.

Risks & Benefits

They are significant agricultural and garden pests that can damage or kill ornamental and crop plants. They pose no direct physical risk to humans but can be difficult to eradicate from indoor environments.
