Scientific Name: Dermestidae (larva)
Order & Family: Coleoptera, Dermestidae

Natural Habitat
Indoors, especially in areas with undisturbed natural fibers like carpets, rugs, woolens, furs, taxidermy, and stored dried foods. They prefer dark, secluded places.
Diet & Feeding
Natural fibers (wool, silk, fur, feathers), dried animal products (dead insects, pet hair), and certain dried plant products (cereals, spices). They are scavenging detritivores.

Risks & Benefits
Risks: Can cause significant damage to household items made of natural fibers, including carpets, clothing, and upholstered furniture. They can also contaminate stored food products. Benefits: In natural ecosystems, they play a role in decomposition by feeding on carrion and dried organic matter.
