Behavior Patterns
Slow-moving, bristly larvae that prefer dark, undisturbed areas. They undergo complete metamorphosis; the larval stage is the most destructive phase of their life cycle.
Risks & Benefits
They do not bite or sting, but they are significant household pests that can damage fabrics and textiles. Some people may develop 'carpet beetle dermatitis,' an allergic reaction to the larval hairs.
