Exclusively feeds on the foliage of Viburnum shrubs, with both larvae and adults consuming the leaves.

Adults emerge in summer to feed and lay eggs in zigzag trenches on small twigs, which overwinter until spring when larvae hatch and resume feeding.

Potential risk as a severe agricultural and garden pest that can completely defoliate and kill vulnerable Viburnum plants; no significant direct benefits to humans.
