Diet & Feeding
Leaves and needles of plants; they are generalist feeders consuming over 100 species of trees and shrubs.
Behavior Patterns
Larvae construct a protective case (bag) made of silk and fragments of environment like leaves or twigs. They carry this 'mobile home' as they move and feed, eventually attaching it to a branch to pupate.
Risks & Benefits
They can cause significant defoliation to host plants, which may lead to plant stress or death if infestations are heavy. They have no benefit to humans and are generally considered a garden or agricultural pest.
